This blog is about my running experiences. I chose the title because it reflects my attitude toward running. Too often we look for a quick fix as an alternative to hard work. Well, running is hard work but very rewarding, and there are no shortcuts or quick fixes. You can't run better (faster) without training consistently. Running is one of the best examples of getting out of something what you put into it. So, just go out and run, dammit!

I'm a native Houstonian and have lived here all of my life except for 1996 to 2001, when we lived in Phoenix. Happily married since 1994, with one daughter and two sons Daughter was born in 1988, first son born in 2003, the other in 2005. There's a spread for ya. Graduate of Texas A&M, 1986. Lutheran.

According to USATF rules, official time is gun time. Chip time "can be made known to the athelete, but will not be considered as official time".

Based on the weather logs on wunderground.com, looks like the front came thru Saturday night so you got the cool temperature but the wind probably wasn't fun on the lake.
Tuan speaks the truth, of course, but in Strider Nation recording of all race results and PR's is done by chip time :-)

Yes Tuan, the front came through overnight, which led to some good temps for the run but yes, the wind was brutal.
And Steeve, hopefully Strider Nation will accept gun time, since I have no chip time.
